“What I found really staggering is the statistic that there’s a 17 year gap between when we know about new knowledge to when its actually put into practice; I think that is mind-boggling and I think that’s a gap that really needs to be addressed. The other point I thought was really interesting is taking the technology focus away from e-health, and what’s coming through, and I think its really important for people implementing systems who tend to focus on the system and usability (and that’s not to say that important) but the people component; the behavioural change, I think that’s really important and I think that’s where health informatics needs to, I suppose, be talked more about that, and peoples behaviours in health.”
